6 Pieces of Fascinating Furniture

Here is a selection of some very striking furniture. Though a  little weird in places, we hope this selection of 6 unusual furniture pieces will inspire you. Whether you are looking to decorate your home or like me, you just like to look at this type of thing, there is bound to be something in this list to make you question everything you’ve ever thought about furniture styling.

1.The bendy love seat

This piece of questionable functionality is part of an intriguing series by Paris Based, South Korean born sculptor Lila Jang. The work is inspired by her struggle to find nice furniture to fit in her tiny Paris apartment, hence the weird… ‘space saving’… bends…

Clearly also inspired by Salvidor Dali and based on classic, white French furniture design, the other items of the collection include dainty ottomans with engorged cushions and a Salvidor-Dali-Drawers-of-Subconcious-esque  dressing table with one stretched draw.

2. The giant mixtape coffee table

Finally. There are actually a number of people out there producing these wonderfully nostalgic coffee tables. This particular one was made by Tayble and can set you back around $1,200 however, I have seen DIY tutorials on building these yourself.

Also in this throwback vein are old school nintendo 64 controlers and floppy disks. Yes.

3.The Rocking Rolling Bed

Missing the good old days on the open rolling sea, eating jam in Grandmas old rocking chair, being rocked to sleep as a newborn?  Or do you just like rocking?

This visually engaging though potentially dizzying bed frame is a piece designed by Fab called The Mood Rocking Bed.

The piece can also be used as exterior furniture and would make an awesome day bed for lounging at a social gathering in the gorgeous Brisbane summer weather by a pool.

4.The magic carpet couch

Besides inspiring mildly disconcerting thoughts of whether this could hold a persons weight, the dimension ratio of this Tonio de Roover couch is also unorthodox.

The breadth and width of a normal Persian rug shaped into a lounge would make for a refreshing difference in the composition of eclectic decor in a space.

5.The pineapple lamp

Ahh the tropical. It lifts ones mood. This delightful sculptured lamp is a new unique arrival available at Botanical Grace in Yeronga (just next door to our office).

The smooth wooden base paired with its concertina stitched, soft and textured green lampshade, is a well balanced piece that is better experienced in person.

The three legged ottoman is also available at Botanical Grace, but make sure you have a bit of time if you decide to duck in here after seeing us, as it is very nice and one can loose track of time enjoying their wares.

6.The sensory deprivation skull pod

Need to think? Some piece and quiet for quiet phenomenological contemplation? Consider the aptness of including this bad boy in your decor.

Netherlandian artist Joep van Lieshout is responsible for this meaningful piece of furniture which, while being a fantastic tool for mindfulness, also looks pretty amazing… if you are into that type of thing.

We hope you have enjoyed this collection of fascinating furniture, it was certainly a joy to curate.
