Cyclone Weather Watch!

How to be prepared in your body corporate community

By now you’ve probably seen the latest in weather updates from BOM or the news status updates on Facebook.   It looks like we won’t be impacted too badly which is great news! Although some rain would be nice!  Even though the flood warnings have died down, it is always a good idea to stay alert especially considering how quickly the weather can change!  We are here to assist you and to keep your body corporate scheme looked after as best as possible, this  means we need your help too.  Here’s a few helpful tips to make sure your ready this weekend:

  • ALWAYS make sure to keep pets indoors, including their food bowls
  • Remove any loose items from your balconies or courtyards – including chairs, clothes drying racks, pot plants etc. Anything that could cause damage if the wind picks up.
  • Keep your windows closed when you go out – nobody wants a soggy carpet or damaged window ledges from the rain!
  • Make sure your bins aren’t overflowing, the slightest wind will pick up any rubbish and it will cost the body corporate to get someone out to clear it all up.  It’s also best to keep your bins in a safe location, i.e. your garage or carport so that it stays put in the wind!
  • Any boxes or personal belongings kept in your carport should also be moved, in case of flooding.
  • Don’t go Camping, Surfing, Swimming along the coast lines this weekend, the Weather Bureau is already reporting 7 meter waves on the Sunshine and Gold Coast beaches, it is extremely hazardous, we urge everyone to keep indoors this weekend.
